Twelve months and counting!

August 22, 2011: My little one had her first day of Sunday School and played so well. Mommy had to hold herself back and watch. My little girl shared toys and pushed around chairs... and had a lot of fun. Babies grow up so fast.
She now has 8 teeth, and still teething! She also runs up to hug me randomly throughout the day. :-)

August 17th: Today Elanor pushed the umbrella stroller for mommy (I had to steer because she isn't quite tall enough to see where she's going).

August 16th: LOL Elanor just tried plugging my cellphone cord into her play phone! :-)

August 12th: Somebody is eating around the clock I'd like one solid night's sleep... Oh, well. Life goes on...Turns out it was a combo of hunger and habit.

August 9th: Wow! A week-long foreign language teaching workshop at the end of July was awesome. Last week I prepared for Elanor's (belated) birthday party which went wonderfully well on Saturday. Sunday Damon, Elanor, and I went to New Harmony, Indiana as Damon provided IT support for incoming EMBA students while Elanor & I explored... and we returned today. Phew. I'm tired and happy.

August 2nd: Elanor just kissed my cheek for the first time! She was super happy that I was picking her up from the pack n play!

July 27th: A year and 12 hours ago I was finishing the most challenging marathon of my life: Elanor's birth. Such an amazing little girl! Thank you to everyone who has helped Elanor with gifts, well wishes, prayers and more.
Her birth made the two 1/2 marathons I ran a few years ago look like a piece of cake. :P

July 7th: Wow, 4 happy years of marriage on July 7th! I'm so very blessed! Time sure flies when you're having fun. :-)

Happy 4th of July! ...a day late. Our 4th was quiet. Elanor went to bed her usual time, and around 9pm the firecrackers woke her. We remedied the situation with cuddles and turning up her night music to drown out the noise.
...We all have colds too. Elanor is such a trooper. I'm dragging myself around the house trying to keep up with her. LOL

June 29th: Hooray! One full day without a fever for my little girl. She's sleeping a lot and is more energetic when awake. :-)

June 28th: Went to the Dr. today for Elanor. No sign of complicated infection. She seems healthy except for the fever. It is probably a common childhood virus (Roseola apparently). My dear little girl kept asking for "buh" (bed) and I finally got to lay her down a few minutes ago.

June 25th: ‎:-( We won't be in church tomorrow. Our little Elanor has a fever. We've given acetaminophen and ibuprofen as directed by our Dr. She's drinking liquids, and clingy but doing ok. We are keeping a close eye on her. Poor little girl!

June 24th: Elanor took 10 baby steps in the middle of my room yesterday as I put away laundry!

June 15th: We just had thunder, lightning, rain, and hail--one piece was the size of a marble. It is 78 degrees outside. I do not see any damage to our property. Elanor is sleeping soundly.

June 13th: Elanor stood up on her own on Thursday... and today took 3 steps before falling down!!! My little baby is growing up fast. At only 10 months old too. I'm going to be insanely busy for the next several months at least.

June 5th: is amazed how much Elanor likes cheerios... and solids in general.

June 3rd: Hurray... apparently mommies do not have the luxury of having a bad day.
(I should have taken a nap instead of researching Praxis teaching exams.)

May 27: My little girl is 10 months old today! She crawls fast, cruises along furniture, claps her hands, is able but not permitted to climb stairs; she says "hi", "mama", "dada", and a special sound that mimics kitty. She likes baby cereal and drinking water from a bottle with mommy's help. Today she even played ball with me. :-)
... She is saying Kitty Cat too! And had her first playtime in the community pool this weekend too... and splashed around for over 30 minutes!

May 12: I am thankful to have seen many friends and family in WA, although we missed seeing a few. Now savoring the 2nd night back home: my bed, our routines, returning to a schedule, 13-year cicadas (weird), and slowly catching up on sleep and laundry.

May 2nd: Last week Elanor had her 9 month checkup. She's a healthy 29 inches and 20.6 pounds and continues in the 85th percentile. She is growing up SO fast!

May 1st: Mommy keeps getting busier: Elanor now sits up and pulls herself to standing in addition to moving around at a fast scoot. Watch out world! :-) ...We also had a lot of fun at GrowWild yesterday, and I picked up a couple native plants to fill in a couple problem areas in our yard.

April 27th: Elanor sat up on her own, scoots fast, and has taken a couple tentative crawl strokes at a time today. Growing up so fast. We also went shopping, and she was SO patient. Needed mommy to hold her when past naptime, and sweet.

April 12: Tooth #5 (top 2nd right) is giving Elanor grief as it gets close to the surface. This afternoon required patience and distractions.

March 24th: Elanor is clicking her teeth. Top front 2 teeth officially in!

March 21st: I think "naanaa" means nappy nap time! Elanor literally replied "naanaa" when I asked her what was wrong. She is now happily napping! My jaw is on the floor. (Ok, so I'm easily impressed.)

March 20th: Wow! Elanor will be 8 months on the 27th! Says "muhmuh", "dada", "hi", and "book". Has a special sound for our kitty (also used for other interesting little people and animals). Twice this week she has brought a blanket/cloth to her face and put 2 fingers in her mouth to ask for sleep.

March 17th: My little girl didn't like trying to nap in the pack n play. It took almost 45 minutes for her to get to sleep--and she awoke after 30 minutes. But, better to practice sleeping in multiple locations than go cold turkey in May while traveling.

March 15th: I  made an oops! I was so surprised at Elanor throwing a little fit today that I couldn't choke back all my laughter. Oh dear! My sweet 7.5 month old is growing up too fast.

March 11th: Day 3 of Elanor's frequent fingers-in-mouth sleepiness. Growth spurt? Also lots of drooling, chewing and nose running. Holds my hands and walks all over the place. Played very sweetly in her high chair last night while I cooked dinner. Laughed with Daddy until she hiccuped.

7 Months and "Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun" (To quote Tigger)

Here's a montage of the last 2 months. Amazing how fast little ones grow up!

Sleepy & Secure in Mommy's Arms

Fun with Buzz-A-Bee
Nope! Nobody Gets to See my Biggest Smile on Camera!

Elanor LOVES Buzz-A-Bee--A Christmas Gift from Nana DeeDee.

Hi There! I love to stand. KittyCat, electronics and my chew toys are some of my favorite reasons to stand up, walk holding Daddy's hands, and reach with rubber arms.

Curiosity in White

Jumping is even more fun than standing!

NanaDeeDee is SO much fun!

Merry Christmas to All!

Damon, Rachel & Elanor wish you a Merry Christmas and a Wonder Filled New Year!
Merry Christmas!

My First Snow - December 13th

 Her face says it all:
Yes, I showed her the snow. No, I didn't ask her to touch it. :-)

"I Eat My Feet." - December 6th

Hurray! Elanor has discovered nibbling on her feet. Best of all, Daddy Damon and Nana Melody were here to see it too!

Standing Ovation - December 1st ~4 months old

Look! Elanor stands with hardly any help! She loves to be on her feet. Before we know it she'll be walking. Yikes, she's going to keep mommy insanely busy soon. :-)
P.S. Thanks to Vanderbilt's Health Plus Babies & You Program for the informative programs and fun gifts.

Laughing with Daddy

Elanor loves playing with Daddy.
